بل ... توني قبل شوي منزل موضوع في منتدى قبل دقيقتين عن الاختصارات ....؟ المهم هذا موضوعي
ABS :
Anti-lock Break System. This electronic system prevents the wheels from locking during a hard brake. Old model cars tend not to have this system installed.

Drift :
The action of shifting a car while driving so as to move sideways through a curve. Usually used to maintain speed around a corner. Performing a drift requires incredible control.

Break Drift:
A technique in which the emergency break is used to slide a car into a drift. Good for people who want to master drifting.

Cornering:
Moving through curves.

Outside:
The outside of the turn ( i.e. for a left curve, the outside would be the right side; for a right curve, the out side would be the left side ).

Inside:
The in side of the turn.

Hair Pin:
Extremely sharp curves, u-turns and such.

SOHC:
Single Overhead Cams. The cam shaft operates the intake and exhaust valves in the engine. In single cam engines, only one cam shaft operates all of the valves. Overhead refers to the cam shaft being located on the top of the engine block.

DOHC:
Dual Overhead Cams. In dual cam engines, the work is split between two cams.

FF:
Front Engine/Front-Wheel Drive. In an FF scheme, power is transferred to the front wheels, making the shaft and a differential ( the mechanism that transfers power from the engine to the axle ) unnecessary.

FR:
Front Engine/Rear-Wheel Drive. In an FR scheme, power is transferred to the rear wheels, which requires a differential to convert the rotational motion of the engine into something the wheels can use. However , drifting is much easier with FR cars.

4WD/AWD
Four-Wheel Drive / All-Wheel Drive

Understeering:
Not turning the steering wheel enough to clear a curve. Understeering can cause the car to break the outside of the curve. Mostly it happens with FF cars, but it can also be used purposefully in specialized driving techniques.

Oversteering:
Turning too much into a curve. Oversteering can cause a car to break the inside of the curve. Mostly it happens with FR cars, but it, too, can be used in specialized driving techniques.

Peg Leg Differential:
Power driven to one of the two wheels on an axel. Power is shifted to the outside wheels as the vehicle turns and alternates between two wheels depending on the texture of the road on straight-aways or curves. Almost 100% of stock cars have this system.

Posi-trac Differential:
Equal distribution of the power to both wheels. This increases speed on straight-aways and introduces the tendency to oversteer on turns, a key component in drifting technique.

LSD:
Limeted Slip Differential – a mechanism that shifts the power distribution from a Peg Leg Differential at low speeds to a Posi-tarc differential at high speeds.

Normally Aspirated Engine ( N/A ):
Term used to describe an engine that hasn't been modified by a turbo charger, super charger, or nitrous kit, in which air is drawn inti the engine naturally rather than forced in.

Engine Displacement:
The amount of water the engine would displace if submerged; measured in cubic centimeters.

Load Shift:
Shifting weight from one side of the car to the other.

Compression Ratio:
Measures how much the piston compresses the air/fuel mixture; The higher the compression ratio, the greater the power output.

EX Manifold:
Exhaust manifold; the output valve for the pistons lead to the exhaust manifold, which then expels vehicular byproducts via the exhaust pipe.

Sport Muffler:
Maximize the amount of air flow from the engine through the exhaust and its usually makes the engine run louder.

Light Flywheel:
Turned by the engine, it facilitates shifting gears, particularly in the lower gears. A light flywheel reduces the amount of energy needed from the engine.
