The Mercedes G-Class has had a very long history in the automotive industry since its launch back in 1979. Currently the model comes in four versions: G, GL, ML and GLK. Starting 2014, however, a fifth version will be added to the line-up. Called the GLC, the new model will be a small coupe SUV.
The Mercedes GLC will be built on the same front-wheel drive architecture that features transversely-mounted engines as found in the next A and B-Classes. The engine setup will also be found in the future BLS. Codenamed the X156, the GLC will measure 4.40-meters. It will in no means a super****** B-class with all-wheel option, but a car with its own individuality.
The exterior of the GLC features ground clearance, large-sized tires, a larger angle in the front bumper, and a coupe-like roof line. The engines will be taken over by the C- and E-Class 250 4Matic CGI (1.8-liter four cylinder gasoline engine, 204 hp) and the 220 CDI 4Matic (2.2-liter four cylinder Diesel, 170 HP).
